Career path
Dr. Matthias Vautrin completed his studies at the University of Nancy, where he obtained his medical degree in 2010. He began his surgical clinical training at CHUV and then oriented his career towards orthopedic surgery and completed 18 months of traumatology at Colmar Civil Hospitals. In 2014, he continued his training in orthopedic surgery and traumatology within the CHUV OTR Department as an assistant physician. In 2017, he spent 2 years as an associate chief resident at Nyon Hospital, where he specialized in hip and knee prosthetic surgery and traumatology.
He obtained the FMH specialist title in orthopedic surgery and traumatology in 2018 and joined the CHUV OTR Department as chief resident in May 2019 in the traumatology team for more complex pathologies. Subsequently, he joined the ankle and foot surgery team. Dr. Vautrin is involved in post-graduate training and supervision of assistant physicians and junior colleagues. He also participates in the department's scientific research work, some of which have been presented orally at national and international congresses and have enabled him to publish his first articles as well as his thesis on bone substitutes. From March 2020, he actively contributed to the reorganization of the department during the COVID-19 crisis.
He returned to GHOL in 2021 as an approved physician. Following the work accomplished in recent years, he was then appointed co-head physician of the GHOL orthopedic surgery and traumatology department in 2023.
